The Table Has Been Set

Utilizing homemade ‘soylent’ wafers  – the rations used to feed the over-crowded planet in the ‘70s dystopic film Soylent Green –  The Table Has Been Set is a meditation on the locavore/sustainable food movement that explores rising concerns about factory farming, genetically modified foods, and corporate malfeasance. The words “Eat Local,” spelled out in green ‘soylent’ wafers, initially support a feel-good read of the piece but upon further reflection should resonate more darkly with Charlton Heston’s famous closing proclamation in the film, “Soylent Green is PEOPLE.”
