Orby: Mission Sackville

Mission Sackville (2014), 3 videos on DVD players, performance artifacts

ORBY is a image-gathering tool fashioned from readily available digital accessories – a surf camera and a GPS tracking device – that combines DIY ingenuity with a hobby scientist’s thirst for understanding of the natural world. An un-guided technological traveler, ORBY shoots still images every two seconds and sends GPS locations to Google maps every 10 minutes. The still images are used to create animations that cover specific locations and time periods, capturing the ebb and flow of the different ecosystems, and were exhibited along with charts, data, and objects from the performance.
